How to Handle a Chapter 11 Business Bankruptcy Case
Mr. Wied is available throughout the country to assist in organizing and moderating continuing legal education programs on how to handle a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. He is currently organizing three-hour seminar programs to be put on in 12 California cities under the auspices of The State Bar of California and local bar associations. The panel for each program typically consists of two local bankruptcy attorneys (one generally representing creditors and the other debtors) and a local bankruptcy judge.
These programs reprise those organized and moderated by Mr. Wied in the mid 1990s in California at a time when businesses were suffering as a result of the collapse of the savings and loan industry. Twenty years hence, current economic stresses make the seminars appropriate once again. Previously, the seminars were accompanied by written materials consisting of a law office manual on how to handle a Chapter 11 case written by Mr. Wied. The manual has been rewritten and brought up to date, and is entitled Chapter 11 From Start to Finish, A Comprehensive Guide to Handling a Business Bankruptcy Case.
Mediation and negotiation advocacy skills.
Mr. Wied is available to teach mediation and negotiation advocacy skills to practicing lawyers and currently does so to third year and graduate law students at the University of San Diego Law School. The subject can be taught in an abbreviated six hour session or, more effectively, in four or more three-hour evening seminars. The sessions, for which outside readings and preparation are required, are inter-active and consist of lectures, videos and role playing.
